Don’t break the bank going Back to School

School holidays aren’t always relaxing – especially with the added costs of Back to School and the festive season around the corner.

Thankfully, leading stationery and office supplier OfficeMax is introducing a new ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ offer. This will allow parents to order all their kids’ school items in December, before the madness of Christmas, and wait until January to make payment.

A recent OfficeMax survey of more than 1,800 parents found a massive 43 per cent claimed Christmas to be ‘one of the most stressful occasions of the year’, closely followed by the Back to School period.

Of those surveyed 73 per cent of parents indicated that costs associated with returning to school were the major stress over the break.

OfficeMax New Zealand’s National Manager of Education Blair Horsfall said people want to get organised for the new school year, but without the immediate price tag.

“It’s something that has to be done every year, but shouldn’t put unnecessary stress on top of the Christmas period,” he said.

“We thought we’d do our bit to help ease the pressure of paying for school supplies and Christmas gifts all at once.”

The crazy schedules, increase in expenses and frenzy following the festive season prompted OfficeMax to decide returning to school in 2017 should be made a little easier, giving parents the opportunity to ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’.

The offer will see parents shopping online for their children’s school needs in December, checking off lists, obtaining all the essentials and waiting to pay the bill until January, with supplies delivered directly to their home.

More than 60 per cent of parents indicated the opportunity to organise all back to school needs in December would help to reduce the stress of January, especially when payment isn’t due until after the new year when Christmas is done and dusted.

Orders placed on the OfficeMax MySchool website can earn rewards for schools through the School Rewards programme, which runs year-round raising an incredible $3.2 million since it began in 2007, contributing $630,000 throughout the 2015/16 Back to School season alone.

OfficeMax’s Price Match Promise is another great initiative advocated not only during the Back to School season, but throughout the year, where if a lower price on an identical stocked item is found, the price will be matched.
