Mini inventors out to play for Colour Your Classroom

Throughout history kids have invented some of the coolest things, from the popsicle to the trampoline, and we all know Kiwis are no novice inventors either – having created bungy jumping, the egg beater and who could forget the Zorb?
Well, this year OfficeMax is combining the two, beginning the search for the next Kiwi kid inventor, with the return of the Colour Your Classroom writing competition.
Until the end of Term 2, Kiwi students are urged to showcase their creative writing prowess, answering this question in 300 words or less: If you could invent something that would make life easier for people, what would you invent?
All for the chance to win an Apple iPad Mini 4 128GB Wi-Fi or one of three $100 Sharpie prize packs for their school.
Colour Your Classroom launched in 2014, and last year’s writing competition received more than 808 entries from children all over the country.
Colour Your Classroom judge Mark Norling, National Account Manager at Sharpie, says while last year’s entries were amazing, this year’s prompt is upping the creativity to a whole new level.
“Who knows, maybe one of these little inventors might just be the next Einstein,” Mark said.
“I’m excited to read all the inventions our Kiwi kids come up with and will see just how they express this in words and in their best handwriting.”
Supported by leading stationery and office supplier OfficeMax, this year each of the four winning students will also receive a Sharpie and Paper Mate special edition colouring kit valued at $44.99.
OfficeMax encourages teachers to tell their students about the competition and visit the Colour Your Classroom website for other educational resources, including free, downloadable lesson plans.

Entries can also be mailed to Sharpie Colour Your Classroom Competition, PO Box 86046, Mangere East, Auckland 2158.

The Colour Your Classroom writing competition ends July 7, 2017.
